Episcopalians believe the Church's worship is an activity of everyone. Great emphasis is placed on congregational participation.

The Episcopal Church is a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. The church has formally been in the United States since 1789, when Scottish bishops consecrated the first American bishop to maintain the line of Apostolic Succession. The oldest church in North Carolina, St. Thomas Church in Bath, is an Episcopal Church.

Episcopalians base their faith upon scripture, tradition, and reason. No Episcopalian is expected to accept as truth any notion that fails this three-fold test.
